Hi,

I'm using this page to document what we need to do before public release. Please read this whole page.


I've added a fair number of projects, working through David's database. This is quite a laborious process, but quite interesting! I think the approach of manual import rather than copying the database is still good, since quality of information is important and the OATS site contains more information.

    • Please feel free to edit records that don't look quite right, to add comments (i've been adding 'OATS Comments' sections at the bottom of the project page), etc...
    • Please feel free to add some software records yourself.
      • Could you make a note of them here: BetaStageAddedRecords so I don't duplicate them
      • I've got up to 'MultiWeb' in the database. I'll start again next week. All the old site's records are copied accross.
      • If you added your own software release on the old site, I hope i've given you ownership of the project, if not, change it to you - you can do this at the bottom of the 'sharing' tab on the project page.
    • Each bit of software should have a download, if it doesn't show i've probably forgotten to publish it, go to the release folder and publish it.

  • Front pages: We need some good 'front pages' to each of the sections - to explain what is in the section and about the 'topic'. If you want to do this, just make a page in the folder and call it something appropriate, i'll then set it to be the index for the folder and put a link to the folder contents in it.
  • Glossary: http://www.oatsoft.org/Info/Glossary/
    • All - please add Glossary terms for any/all acronyms. It's very nice - all terms will automatically be underlined in text and will show the definition when hovered over.
  • Management: http://www.oatsoft.org/Management/
    • Stephen - could you upload all the meeting minuites and other management type stuff?
    • I think we should contact the authors of ALL the software we've added and inform them/request they open source their stuff/request they keep the site page up to date. We need to plan how to do this.

General Stuff

  • Don't forget the 'what's related' section at the bottom of documents - use this to go and find related documents
  • Help on adding stuff is here: http://www.oatsoft.org/Info/HowTos/AddingContent/ - it is basic at the moment so shout if you get stuck.
  • PLEASE use the trac system to report errors/feature requests. Just logon and click 'New ticket' check that the ticket doesn't already exist first though in the reports ( report:1 ).
  • As managers you will be able to 'publish' stuff - by clicking the state button on pages. Do this where appropriate.
  • You are all managers of the whole site at the moment, so be careful!!! Ask Andy/Simon/Jason if stuck!
