PPTM version a SpeakNotes for Powerpoint 2007

This has a master slide which places the 'speak'button on each slide - Read more

A macro in the presentation can be activated to speak the notes.  The macro can be activated by an on-screen button placed on the master slide.  Currently this is for Powerpoint 2003 but it will work in 2007 if you put a button on each page.  It uses a VBA command from Excel 2003 to do the speech command.

The voice used is the default voice set in the Speech Control Panel which does limit you somewhat.

Improvements would be to be able to speak paragraphs in the notes by command rather than all at once.  The addition of event control should enable the use of text to speech alongside cusom animations.  It is possible to get events activated in Powerpoint but they don't seem to work in a way that is useful - any ideas welcome.

Yes, sorry it's using Windows Excel calls and MS Visual Basic. If you can get it running on a mac great. Not sure if we can do the same with Open Office yet.
