JavaPlaphoons es un programa de comunicación. Pensado para personas con discapacidad motora que no se puedan comunicar mediante el habla. Tradicionalmente las personas con estas discapacidades podían comunicarse mediante la ayuda de otra persona y un libro de símbolos llamado plafón de comunicación.
JavaPlaphoons es la versión en Java para que pueda ejecutarse en cualquier plataforma del programa Plaphoons que funciona en la plataforma Windows. ... A parte de esto indicaremos notar las pocas diferencias que existen entre los dos programas.

JavaPlaphoons is a communication program, designed for people with physical disabilities who can not communicate through speech. Traditionally, people with these disabilities could communicate with the help of another person and a communication chart or book of symbols.
The Plaphoons program runs on the Windows platform, while JavaPlaphoons is the Java version that can run on any platform (supporting Java). There are some differences between the two versions.

Plaphoons and JavaPlaphoons can either be used as a stand-alone AAC package for symbol and/or text based communication with speech support, or it can be used as an on-screen-keyboard for text input into other applications on the desktop.
The newly released (October 2011) Android version is based on the JavaPlaphoons version, but only providing part of the functionality. Can be downloaded from Android Market at: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.openintents.plaphoons.sample
