Free Speech for Android
Free Speech is a free and open source augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) program that provides a low-cost alternative to dedicated speech generating devices (SGD).
Downloads
Existing and upcoming downloads of selection sets for SAW 5. All selection sets created for SAW 5 will be gratefully received. Some selection sets are available sepparately, other inter-connected selection sets (environments) are available as zipped files which may include graphics used in items. (Sorry for the random order - due to some bug in the management tool.)
SAW Resources 2.1
Updated and improved pointer user selection sets for Efofex FXEquation. The inter-connection between sets is improved and the layout is more consistent. An alphabetic set has been added.
Switch Viacam
Switch Viacam (sViacam) is a webcam based switch emulator. Using a web camera, you can configure a particular spot in which motion is detected to trigger a mouse click or a keystroke. As no particular features or shapes are detected, events can be fired using almost any part of the body or object moving in front of the camera. Currently, up to two virtual switches can be emulated. SITPLUS
SITPLUS is a free software (GNU GPL) framework whose main goal is to provide ludic-therapeutic activities for people with disabilities. It offers new forms of interaction based on computer vision, voice and other peripherals to produce a result in the form of image and sound.
DonnerLaParole
DonnerLaParole is a primarily text based communicator for people with speech and physical impairments - including word prediction, text-to-speech support etc. Best support for French - cross-platform Java application.
Plaphoons
Plaphoons is one of the many valuable results from the Catalan Fressa project, made available under a CC-BY-NC-SA licence. It is a comprehensive tool for alternative access and AAC. Versions are available for MS Window (95 - 7), Java (GPL license) and recently for Android. Most information still only available in Catalan and Spanish.

eSpeak is a compact free and open source software speech synthesizer for English and other languages, for Linux and Windows.

Enable Viacam
Enable Viacam (aka eViacam) is a mouse replacement software that moves the pointer as you move your head. It works on standard PCs equipped with a web camera. No additional hardware is required. Runs over Windows and Linux and is released under GNU/GPL license.
Tablet PC Speech Assistant
The Tablet PC Speech Assistant is a program which runs on the Tablet PC or the more portable Ultra-Mobile PC. The software was originally built by Todd Landstad, a software engineer with years of experience with Tablet PC development. He developed the Tablet PC Speech Assistant as an aid for people who have problems speaking. The Tablet PC Speech Assistant can make it fairly easy for some people to have phrases that they often use spoken by the default voice on the Tablet PC. Given that the software require fairly good handwriting ability, and access to specific hardware, it will not be practical for some people.
Dkey
Dkey is disambiguation software for computers - it works in a similar way to 'predictive text' on your mobile phone. It is designed to allow quicker text input for people with physical disabilities who can use a keyboard with a small number of keys, for example a number pad keyboard. It can also be used with mouse input, or with switch input via other software. It is designed with people with disabilities in mind, but could be used by anyone.
Qwriting
Based on Ken Perlin's Quikwriting, this is a novel on-screen keyboard that works on mouse gestures. Moving your mouse in gestures across the Qwriting window turns the gestures into letters. This can be a very efficient way of typing for people who can only use a mouse and don't want to move the mouse much...
mouseTrap
mouseTrap is an application (for Linux) that intends to provide control of the mouse pointer using a Web Cam and face detection. The users can move the pointer using the face or other parts of it.
