Adding and Editing Content on OATsoft
OATsoft is based on PLONE, a content management system, this allows anyone to contribute to the site. This page explains how you can contribute.
You can add content anywhere on the OATS site:
Don't be shy! Most areas of the site allow you to add content - if you don't seem to be able to add something, just contact us.
To see these areas
you need to be registered or
logged on - where you are able to add content you will notice a new
'toolbar' that says 'add new item'.
- About OATS - help document the proect
- Articles - general articles or articles about OATS development.
- News - both general news and specific OATS
development news .
- Assistive Technology Resources
- Obviously, don't forget - you can add a bit of OATS software to the list
Your User Area: When you register on the OATS site a user area is automatically created for you (called 'my folder'). This is a good place to start creating content, and is useful for content related to you (e.g. CV etc). If you create something here you can always move it to other parts of the site when you have finished it.
How to add content:
Add content:
On areas where you can add content you will see the editing toolbar,
similar to that below:
To add content, simply click the 'add to folder' button, and choose a
type of content - the most common is a page, but there are lots
of other types too.
Editing:
An edditing window will now be opened up for the type of content you
have chosen to add - fill in all the boxes that you can. Boxes
with a red dot by them are compulsory and you will not be able to
submit the content without completing them.
When editing text areas you will be able to use an editing tool
(called KuPu) that lets you format your text.

Submitting:
Once the document is complete you will be taken to the finished view
of the document. It will not yet appear on the site, two
things need to happen:
- You need to submit the content for review. Use the 'State' button
in the top right and choose 'submit'.

- The OATS team will review the content and publish it.
Browsing contents of a folder:
If you have permission you can look at the contents of a folder and move the order of things around. To do this, click on the 'contents' tab of a
document.
If you get stuck, just contact us!
