Why bother designing software for anyone other than the 99% of non-disabled people?
Well, for a start: 99%? Get real! More than 1% of the population are disabled by standard computer interfaces. Significant user groups for whom computers could be highly beneficial are being left in the technological gutter.
OATS stands for Open Assistive Technology Software. Assistive technology is technology that assists (people with disabilities) - read it without the brackets and it simply sounds like good HCI design.
